President House of Delhi

The Rashtrapati Bhavan, which is more commonly known as the President House of Delhi, is the place where the President of India lives. This is a beautiful house that features a variety of appealing areas. These include all sorts of spaces that are used for official governmental duties and for many general living needs.

The President House was built in 1911. It was built on Raisina Hill, a spot in New Delhi that is home to many important places for the national government. The building was originally used as the home to the Viceroy of India. This was during the British Rule of the country. The building had become the home of the President after India had become independent from the United Kingdom.

A big point of this building is that it is incredibly large. It is estimated that the President House of Delhi has 340 rooms. This is enough for not only the President but also for the other people who can live in the house at varying times in the year.

One of the most notable parts of the house is the massive dome in the middle of the building. This is where the Durbar Hall is located. This is where all of the main functions that the President handles take place in. The dome is built with copper and features some accents that involve both British and Hindu ideas.

The columns at the front part of the President House are especially interesting. There are bells that have been carved into the columns. These were designed with British Rule in mind by stating that the British Rule would not end because the bells would never make any sounds. Of course, this is very ironic considering tat British Rule has ended.

Some of the many rooms inside the President House are general function rooms. There is a dining room that features teak panels around it while the ballroom features Old English glass that is noted for being very reflective. The library is also notable. This library has a build that was based loosely off of the study at the Wren's St. Stephen's of Walbrook, a church in the London area.

There are also some private apartments and bedrooms in the upper levels. There are more than fifty of these rooms on the top end of the President House. These can accommodate a number of guests to the house.

There are many things that can occur throughout the year. People can see the changing of the Presidential Bodyguard on Saturday mornings here. This occurs at the outside part of the gate.

Also, some gardens are open in the area. The Mughal Gardens are open to the public throughout much of the year. This is the royal garden area that people can enjoy viewing. It is home to many decorative fountains and walls. A tropical theme is used for most of the plants in the area. This can be open during the spring season when the flowers are beginning to bloom. However, the guards at the garden do check on all people before hey enter the area to ensure that they will not harm the garden.

Durbar Hall is also open for public viewing. This was originally home to a large museum. However, the items that were here have since been moved over to the newer National Museum.

The President House of Delhi is one of the most appealing attractions to visit when in Delhi. This house features many beautiful rooms and a massive garden. It also features many great historical places and some of the most important facilities that the President can use.
