The National Rail Museum of Delhi is a popular place to visit in Delhi. This museum is devoted to the world of rail history and the use of rail in Delhi and other parts of India. This museum can be found in Chanakyapuri Delhi It is a popular place thanks to its large variety of different engines that are on display.

The National Rail Museum was established a little over thirty years ago. It was established as a site for a look at the many different locomotives and other rail engines that have served India over time. There are so many different trains in the museum that it covers nearly ten acres of space. The most notable point of the National Rail Museum is the Fairy Queen locomotive. This is a locomotive that was built in 1855. It continues to be functional and well preserved to this day. In fact, it is recognized as the oldest fully operational locomotive in the world.

There are some royal rail cars that are on display here. One of the most notable of these cars is an 1875 car that was built for the royal members. This car is the Prince of Wales Saloon. It was built as a car for the man who would become King Edward VII to use when traveling to India.

Some of the most unique and historic innovations in rail history are also on display here. The National Rail Museum features a series of Patiala State Monorail trains. These trains were built in the early twentieth century to serve as a prototype monorail around Delhi. The most unique point about this is that it, unlike monorails of today, was made with a steam powered engine. One of the engines from the series of trains has been fully restored to where it is slightly functional.

There are even a few vehicles on display at the National Rail Museum. The Morris Fire Engine is a notable vehicle that is featured here. This 1914 fire engine has been engineered to where it is capable of operating again. This is a unique model design that works very well for all sorts of utility functions. In fact, this engine is one of only a few in the world that are still standing today. This engine was created in mass quantities over a period of time.
