All New HP 3D Printer: Specs, Features and Expectations Explained

After more than eighteen odd months of its first announcement about the plan of entering 3D printer market, the ace printer maker Hewlett-Packard just a week before unveiled two brand new models of 3D printers. The new HP 3D printer is named as HP Jet Fusion 3D Printing Solution. According to the company statements, these two models are not for mass market use but mainly targeted for the companies and brands for their 3D printing and prototyping requirements in manufacturing facilities. The two printers are still going through the last phase of development and are expected to be available in the market at the last quarter of this year or at next year’s beginning.

Priced at a minimum of $130,000, already HP’s 3D printers have garnered interests among big brands for their prototyping needs. Nike and ace automaker giant BMW both reportedly shown a keen interest in them.

HP 3D printers: the vision of the printer maker

HP around eighteen months before has expressed its ambitious wish to enter the 3D printing scene. The scope for the 3D printing is actually at its budding stage and still the vast mass market potential is left unattended by most 3D printer makers. We all know that by producing the first successful mass-market printing products HP creates its niche standing and naturally we are looking forward to the brand for a similar or near-similar move from the brand in respect of 3D printers as well. At present, the vision of the company for its 3D printers is limited to the market consisting of prototyping, modeling and small parts manufacturing for production facilities. Though there is no immediate of launching a 3D printer for the mass market, the company has plans for affordable 3D printers with custom color options.

The typical advantages of HP 3D printer

The new HP 3D printers are different from most other 3D printers in many regards. First of all, these 3D printers are capable of printing by using different print grade materials and colors at the same time. Naturally for design printed output in products manufacturers can get really robust and more detailed output from these printers.

Only very few 3D printer brands at present offer such advantage of printing with diverse materials. HP 3D printers take this capability one step ahead by offering to print with a variety of colors at the same time.

Moreover, HP is reportedly working to embed artificial intelligence in its 3D printers to allow printing based on the user contexts and preference data gathered by smart sensors.

HP 3D printers are also different in respect of stunning specs. Priced at just $130,000 the new 3D printer can print black nylon material with a 3D pixel count of 340 million per second. Moreover, it offers at least 25% faster printing capability compared to any standard printer.

Final verdict

If we remember well, decades ago HP made its sensational entry with the first mass-market desktop printer. Naturally, this time, also we expected a mass-produced 3D printer for homes. But this time, HP rather made a much pragmatic move by launching only 3D printers for manufacturing units. But, as HP is a brand known for creating highly consumable mass-market products, in future we can expect an affordable version of the 3D printing solution launched by the company.
