Google Spaces, The New Google Messaging App to Make Content Sharing Easy

Google fairly a week ago released its new app for messaging and small group sharing. The new app called Spaces is a lot different from the Google+ and is more content oriented. The app presently available on mobile platforms like Android and iOS and also on the desktop and mobile Web represents a groundbreaking concept among social media platforms.

'Spaces' is more centered on content topics than the participants. For different topics separate space is created and thereafter the creator can send invitations to acquaintances and friends for joining in the discussion over that topic. It can be sent just through an email link or a messaging app, or by sharing the link on another social platform. Besides all Google group of social platforms Facebook is already integrated.

The niche advantage of Spaces

'Spaces' is basically meant for sharing contents with like-minded people. ‘Spaces’ has three distinct advantages over most other social platforms. Let us have a look at them.

Easy sharing of content links: Spaces is mainly created by Google to make sharing content links easy, according to Luke Wroblewski, the product director of this new Google offering. Earlier sharing any contents used to involve switching between apps involving time-consuming copy and paste operation. Now as Spaces is offered with an array of built-in social sharing tools like Google search, YouTube, and Chrome, no longer you need to leave the app pasting the content link in another platform.

Content is the king: ‘Spaces’ gives the highest priority to content rather than participants as it happens in other apps like Messenger, WhatsApp and Google Hangouts. The conversations in Spaces center on a topic shared among interest groups.

The diversity of contents: ‘Spaces’ allows creating contents on varied topics referring to all activities, occasions, events, focus areas and thoughts. Besides the text, contents can be optimized further with colors, typeface variation, images, videos, infographics, etc. Now in Spaces, three different types of contents can be published such as,

  • YouTube videos and GIFs,

  • Images and graphic images like infographics.

  • Text content.
