What is Wi-Fi?

                         

Wi-Fi, the abbreviation of  wireless fidelity is a  wireless networking technology  that is being used within a limited ranges of  area in the radio and electronic field all over the world. The term  Wi-Fi  is derived from the term "Hi-Fi" means High fidelity that was being used in electronic system for reproducing high-fidelity sound from radio or recordings. The radio and electronic system that uses  802.11 standard are called Wi-Fi system. This networking system was developed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 1997. Wi-Fi  is also spelled as WiFi, Wi-Fi, Wifi, or wifi. After invention of this technology, it was launch in the market for commercialize purpose that become very popular in the PDA, Laptop and  other various accessories. Some traders of  Wi-Fi technology has been organized a group named Wi-Fi Alliance for extracting and boosting it 's  commercial profit.

In the Wi-Fi system computers are connected with wifi network card and this is further connected  with  wireless router. The router  is connected to the modem through a cable or to a DSL modem. The another user who wants to access the internet through this network can connect to this network wirelessly within the range of  300 to 600 feet from the access point after getting a permission of the administrator . 

Wifi networks are available in both forms open as well as closed. In "Open" system  anyone can use it while in  "Closed"  system, a password is essential for using it. Radio also uses wifi technology of specific frequency  of  2.4 GHz. Wifi  technology  will be very  useful in computer technology as it enhance the chances of  lightweight  and mobile computer that consume low power. Nowadays most laptops are available in the market  already equipped with internal wireless networking cards.
