Matheran Hill Station of India
Matheran is a hill station in the Indian state of Maharashtra. This small idyllic summer resort in Sahyadri hill attracts everyone with its immaculate beauty and spectacular views. Like many other Indian hill stations, this place too, was discovered by British. Hugh Poyntz Malet, a british officer posted in the Thane district discovered the place in May 1850 while its foundation was laid by Lord Elphinstone, the then Governor of Bombay. The British beautifully nurtured this region in order to escape the summers. Various remains of its British past can still be found here. Matheran tourism offers a red carpet welcome to the tourists thronging to this hill resort.
With an elevation of around 800 meters your ride to Matheran is going to be an uphill ride. The place seems to be cloaked amidst the verdant stretches of greenery.
