Delhi Golf Club

The Delhi Golf Club is a very famous golf course in the city of Delhi. It is a space that is located in Delhi and features a number of golf courses. It is great for people who enjoy golfing to visit when coming into Delhi.

The Delhi Golf Club was established in the 1920s not long after war had ended. The course was created by a committee that consisted of members of the British Rule in India. The goal was to create a full size golf course yet at the same time pay respect to the traditional Mughal architecture in the area. A large amount of planning was used to ensure that the course would be properly laid out without any problems.

The area opened up in 1931 and was situated around a series of Mughal buildings from the fourteenth century. In fact, some of the areas around the course are burial grounds that covered many members of the Lodi dynasty of the fourteenth century.ADS_TO_REPLACE_1

The Delhi Golf Club had gone through some financial turmoil over the years. This included a partial sale of its land as a means of ensuring that the land could be paid off.

Today the club has become its own independent entity. It has become very popular among golfers who come out to Delhi. In fact, the club has become the official home of the Hero Honda Indian Open. An interesting point about this is that Peter Thomson, an Australian golfer who won the first Indian Open in 1964 and won it two more times after that, redesigned the course in the late 1970s.ADS_TO_REPLACE_2

There are two courses to experience at the Delhi Golf Club. The first is the Lodhi Course. This is a par 72 course that is about 6,800 yards in length from the championship tees, 6,350 yards from the men's tees and a little under 6,000 yards from the women's tees. It features a variety of fairways that tend to move up and down throughout their ways. It also features many deep bunkers. Also, the greens are more level than what they had been when the course was first introduced.

The big point about this course is that it is situated around a series of old buildings and arches. These are all Mughal buildings that are still well preserved to this day.

There is also a smaller nine hole course at the Delhi Golf Club. This is the Peacock Course. It is a par 30 course that is 1,900 yards long on the men's tees and 1,700 yards long on the women's tees. This course tends to be an easier course for visitors to get into during most times of the year but it is especially easier to get here during the winter months.ADS_TO_REPLACE_3
