Understand with Example

The Tutorial illustrate an example from 'Mysql Left'. To understand example we create a table 'employee1' with given specified fieldnames and datatypes.

Query to Create Table named employee1:

mysql>CREATE TABLE employee1 (              
         ->    Empid int(10),         
         ->    Empname varchar(60),   
         ->    date date 
         ->  );

Query to insert data into Table named employee1:

The insert into adds the records or rows to the table 'employee1'.

Query to view data of Table named employee1 using Left:

The Query is used to return the left string character from string. In this example the query return left string character from string 'GirishTewari' as Left String. The '6' return the length of string character upto which we can extract the character from left string.

mysql> SELECT left ('GirishTewari',6)as LeftString;

Output:-
