Mysql Like Operator is used to compare a part of string using the % wild card character.

Mysql Like Operator is used to compare a part of string using the % wild card character.

Understand with Example

The Tutorial illustrate an example from 'Mysql Like Operator'. This section of tutorial lists  records or rows from the table employee1 where  like column 'name' end with the character '%h'.

'%h' : The '%h'  return the records from table where string end with h character.

The create table helps you to create a table 'employee1' with required fieldname and datatype.

 

 

Query to Create Table named employee1:

mysql>CREATE TABLE employee1 (              
         ->    Empid int(10),         
         ->    name varchar(60),   
         ->    dob date 
         ->  );
 

Query to insert data into Table named employee1:

Now we insert the records into table  'employee1'.

Query to view data from Table named employee1 using like command:

The below Query is used to return the records from table 'employees' in which name end with character '%h'.

mysql> select * from employee1
    -> where name like '%h';
