Python dictionary is very flexible and you can perform many operations very easily.

Suppose you have following dictionary:

book_dict = {"name":"Python Book", "price":"100"}

Now you have to add publication date to this dictionary then you can use following code:

book_dict["publication_date"]="2021-05-28"

Above code will add publication_date to the existing dictionary. Here is complete code:

book_dict = {"name":"Python Book", "price":"100"}


book_dict["publication_date"]="2021-05-28"

print(book_dict)

If you run the program you will get following output:

>>> book_dict = {"name":"Python Book", "price":"100"}
>>> 
>>> 
>>> book_dict["publication_date"]="2021-05-28"
>>> 
>>> print(book_dict)
{'name': 'Python Book', 'price': '100', 'publication_date': '2021-05-28'}
