Digital format can be better controlled: we can compress it, route it, convert it to a new better format, and so on; also we saw that digital signal is more noise tolerant than the analog one.

It is probably a good idea not to give them the full volume since they may want to speak among themselves, but on the other hand if the level is too low they won't be able to hear you announcing the next song.
