Example below demonstrates bigdecimal class multiply method example. Method returns a bigdecimal object value.

 

Java bigdecimal multiply example

                         

Example below demonstrates bigdecimal class multiply method example. Method returns a bigdecimal object value. Method multiply  this.object value with the value of the specified object. Scale of the result will be the sum of this.object value scale + the scale of the specified object value.

In the example two bigdecimal objects are created and assigned integer as well double type values. 
Method throws NumberFormatException if it finds value other than integer & double.

Syntax for using the method : public BigDecimal multiply(BigDecimal multiplicand)
BigDecimal objects with names x ,y & z;
y = x.multiply(y);

import java.math.BigDecimal;

public class Java_bigdecimal_multiply {
  public static void main(String args[]) {

    Integer value_0 = new Integer(12),
    value_1 = new Integer(12);

    BigDecimal mimic_0 = new BigDecimal(value_0);
    BigDecimal mimic_1 = new BigDecimal(value_1);

    System.out.println("mimic_0 object value :" +
        " " + mimic_0
        "\nmimic_1 object value :" + mimic_1);
    System.out.println("Method generated result : "
        + mimic_0.multiply(mimic_1));

    mimic_0 = new BigDecimal(225.55);
    mimic_1 = new BigDecimal(12);

    System.out.println("\n" "mimic_0 object " +
        "value : " + mimic_0
        "\nmimic_1 object value :" + mimic_1);
    System.out.println("Method generated result : "
        + mimic_0.multiply(mimic_1));

  }
}
