Convert String to a Float

                         

In this section, you will learn how to convert string data into a float type data. The java.lang package provides the method that converts string data into float and also converts it into double. The following program helps you to convert string type data into float and double by applying the doubleValue() method. 

Description of code:

Float(String str):
This is the constructor of Float class. It constructs a float object that represents a floating-point value. It converts the string into a float type value and takes the following parameter.

        str: This is the string that have to be converted into a float.

doubleValue():
This method returns the double value of a float object. 

Here is the code of program:

public class ConvertStringToFloat{
  public static void main(String[] args) {
    System.out.println("Convert string to float example!");
    String str = "5";
    Float f = new Float(str);
    double d = f.doubleValue();
    System.out.println("float value:"+f);
    System.out.println("double value:"+d);
  }
}
