The flat and rolling coastal plains and huge mountains characterize the geography of the country. The most elevated peak in the country is Pidurutalagala at a height of 8281 feet. Sri Lanka has a tropical type of climate. The temperature in summers is moderated by the trade winds from the ocean and monsoon season follows summer season. Winters are milder in coastal areas while the highland regions are colder. Some unique variety of plants found in the island includes satinwood, teak, and ebony among few others.

Sri Lanka's economy is driven by the exports of cinnamon, tea and rubber. The stock exchange in the country has been witnessing a large growth lately.
