Settled by the Hunter-gatherers in the Stone Age, Rwanda has been an independent country since 1962. A presidential rule is governed in the country where the issue of suppression of oppression groups has always been in the news.

Rwanda is located in the continent of Africa stretching from continent's central region to the east. The geographical coordinates of Rwanda are 2 South and 30 East. Rwanda is spread over an area of 26,338 square kilometres. A population of 11,370,425, according to the 2011 census, makes it the 29th most densely populated country in the world followed by Israel.

Rwanda shares its boundary with Burundi in the south, Tanzania in the east , Uganda in the north and Democratic Republic of Congo in the west. Kigali is the capital and the largest city of Rwanda. River Nile, River Ruzizi and the River Nyabarongo are the largest rivers flowing through the country. Lake Kivu is the largest lake in the country. Ruhondo, Muhazi and Rweru are some of the other important lakes in Rwanda. Virunga Mountains is the highest mountain range found in the country and it contains the most elevated peak of the country, Mount Karisimbi, at a height of 14787 feet.

The climatic conditions in Rwanda are more to the cooler side because of its high altitude. There is a little seasonal variation in the country where the temperature is much to the liking of the inhabitants.
