Named after the Montserrat Mountain, Montserrat was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493. Situated in the Leeward Islands of West Indies, Montserrat is a British overseas Department. Montserrat was the location of one of the most famous Radio Stations, as a result of which many musicians often visited the island while enjoying the serene beauty around them. But after the destruction caused by Hurricane Hugo, the country's economy has been hit hard. Montserrat is trying to get back on its feet with the help of British government and strengthening its economic system.
