Guadeloupe is an overseas territory of France situated in Leeward Islands. It is a group of islands. It includes the islands of Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre and some smaller islands. Being a part of France, it is politically associated with the European union. Christopher Columbus found these islands in 1493.
The geographic coordinates of Guadeloupe are 16.25° North and 61.5833° West and it is spread over a total area of 1,628 square kilometers. A population of 405,000 resides in the country.
