I want to gather some information on Antarctica. Can you help me with that?
Thanks,

Hi,
Latitude of Antarctica is:-90 and Longitude of Antarctica is: 0
You stand in the middle of nowhere and look around yourself. All you can see is ice, ice and more ice, which happens to be no less than 1.6 kilometers thick. You don?t come across a soul out there except for some species you only saw on TV till this day of your life, Penguins and Seals being the more familiar ones.
That is when you realize that you are standing on the southernmost part of Earth, called Antarctica, the fifth largest continent on earth, also referred to as desert some times due to the minimal precipitation it receives. Of course, standing there, you in all probable sense are a scientist or a researcher of sorts who has come to study how animals and some microorganisms adapt to the extreme conditions that Antarctica has to offer.
Howsoever extreme the conditions prevailing there might be, Antarctica happens to be one such continent that fascinates everyone from outside. The mystery that surrounds this place, the fact that being in Antarctica, one can see and experience things that are unimaginable in any other part of the world, like witnessing constant sunlight in summers for months, without even a hint of darkness because sun does not set for close to 6 months. But what goes around, comes around and this holds true even in this marooned continent where in winters, sun is not seen for next 6 months.
But as ironical as it may sound, these are the factors that make survival in Antarctica impossible (at least for the ones who are planning to live there forever!!). Temperature plummets to as low as -80°C in winters while in summers, it may rise up to 15°C. The total area to which Antarctica spans is 14 million square kilometers out of which 13.7 million square kilometers is covered with ice. Located at the coordinates of 90 00 S, 0 00 E, Antarctic has been an object of research for several countries, some of which had also made territorial claims on Antarctica. To avoid any confrontation, the Antarctic Treaty was signed which also ensured that no such activity would be carried out that might disturb Antarctica?s ecological balance.
To this date, The Antarctica remains a spectacle, that forget us, but even those who are fortunate enough to be breathing its air, cannot even fathom.
