Taj Mahal - Monument of love
The great monument of love is the Taj Mahal of Agra. The Taj Mahal is the
essence of Mughal art; it is one of the famous buildings of the whole world.
Many of us never find the actual purpose of building of Taj Mahal without
knowing the history about it, as most of us know that a Mughal emperor Shah
Jahan ordered to build a beautiful building and dedicated this building to her
beloved one, Mumtaz Mahal (Arjumand Bano Begum), the wife of Emperor Shah Jahan.
At that time 20,000 workers worked on building this monument, and thirty two
crore rupees were spent on the manufacture of this beautiful building, The
material used in the construction of this tomb was brought from all over the
India and central Asia. This material was brought to the site by the fleet of
1000 elephants, it was designed by the architect belongs to Iran, which latter
on becomes the monument of love. The work of the architect is best appreciated
when the architecture and its decorations are representing the passion that
encouraged it. It is the symbol of eternal love to the wife. Actually it was
built according to the Islamic structural design. It was remembered by the tomb
of emperor's wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
This tomb is the house of queen just like in paradise. Its design and
construction is very unique. It has a symbolic meaning for the people of present
days. This Taj Mahal is standing on the bank of the great river, which serves as
the wide defense of the great Red Fort of Agra; the Red Fort of Agra is the
center of Mughal emperor. It was built in 1631 for his second beloved wife. His
wife Mumtaz Mahal was the Muslim Persian princes. She died after giving birth of
his 14th child in Burhanpur. The death of her beloved wife crushed so much that
all of his hairs of head and beard losses the black pigment and becomes white
just like snow, within few months.
When the princess was still alive, she took four guarantees from the Shah Jahan:
First of that four is to built the Taj Mahal for her; second he should merry
with a third wife; third, be kind to the other children who are not belonging to
her, and fourth and last one, is to visit the tomb after her death at each death
anniversary. He full fills his first two promises. He started the construction
of Taj Mahal in 1631 but it was finished in 22 years.
Agra where the great monument Taj Mahal is situated is the city of India. The
pictures or movies of Taj Mahal do not sufficiently express the legend, the
verse and the romance that it contains. The meaning of Taj Mahal is "Crown
Palace" in fact it is the most beautiful and well preserved tomb of the
architectural world. The beauty of this art is well described in the poetries of
different poets of every language, The best description is found in the English
poetry by Sir Edwin Arnold, as "Not a piece of architecture, as other buildings
are, but the proud passions of an emperor's love wrought in living stones."
The Taj Mahal is build up on a high base made up of red stone. This is peaked
with a large white marble porch. On that porch the rests of the well-known arena
lies that is lined by four minarets which shows tapering look. As we all know
within the arena lies jewel-inlaid monument of the Mumtaz Mahal, the beloved
