Paraguay derives its name from the River Paraguay that splits the country from north to south. Often called the Heart of America, Paraguay is located in the central region of the South America. Ruled by Spain for close to two centuries, Paraguay achieved independence in 1811.

Agriculture is the most significant aspect of Paraguay?s economy. Export of consumer good to neighbouring countries generates large revenues for the country. Economy also benefits from the high standards of education in the country where the literacy rate stands at 93.6%.
