A country with two national flags, New Caledonia is a special collectivity of France. Located in Melanesia, it is a group of islands the largest of which is the Grand Terre Island. Lapita group of people was the first settlement to this island followed by the Polynesians.

New Caledonia is placed at the geographical coordinates of 21.5° South and 165.5° East. The total area to which it is spanned is 18,575 square kilometres and is home to a population of 249,000 according to 2009 estimate. South province and the north province of the island have majority of the population. The islands that make up New Caledonia are Loyalty Islands, the Belep archipelago, Loyalty Island, Isle of Pines Chesterfield Islands and Bellona Reefs. Nouméa is the capital and the largest city of the island of New Caledonia.

New Macedonia has a tropical type of climate. In winters temperature hovers between 60-80 F with little or no rainfall, while temperature in summers may go up to 32 C. The island does suffer occasionally from cyclones. Some of the unique variety of animals and birds found in the islands includes Mekosuchus crocodile, Kagu, Meiolania and Sylviornis.

Economy of New Macedonia benefits from the rich natural resources like Nickel found in its soil. Increasing number of tourists has also boosted the island's economy recently. As for sports, football and rugby are the most popular sports among the youth of New Macedonia.
