Kyrgyzstan is an independent Turkic state located in Central Asia. Placed at the geographical coordinates of 41° North and 75° East, Kyrgyzstan is spanned across an area of 199,900 square kilometres and is home to a population of 5,482,000 according to 2009 census. Kyrgyzstan shares its boundary with China in the east, Tajikistan in the southwest, Uzbekistan in the west and Kazakhstan in the north.

Kara Darya River is a major river in the country.

The climatic conditions in Kyrgyzstan are accompanied by hot and humid summers while the winters are mild.

Kyrgyzstan ranks among the poorest countries of the world, political instability in the country being a major factor behind it. Agriculture is the mainstay of its economy. Though rich in mineral resources, lack of petroleum and natural gas reserves hasn't been helping the economy either.

The citizens of Kyrgyzstan love to play football. Ice Hockey off late has been garnering some popularity among the youth.
