Brunei, officially known as the State of Brunei Darussalam, is a sovereign state located in Southeast Asia, largely surrounded by Malaysia. With the geographical coordinates of 4 30 N, 114 40 E, It is located in Bomeo Island's northern coast. Spread over an area of 5,765 square kilometers, Brunei has an estimated population of 401,900. The capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, is home to a large percentage of population.

Belait District and the town of Seria account for the most of the oil and gas production in Brunei. Other major towns include Muara and Kuala Belait. The climate in Brunei remains consistently hot and humid throughout the year though heavy rainfalls do moderate the temperature to an extent.

Economy of Brunei is heavily dependent on its agriculture and oil and gas production. Efforts are being made to strengthen banking and tourism sectors as well.

Unlike rest of the world, media does not enjoy a free hand in Brunei. The government of Brunei controls the writings of the press to a great extent. The Sultan of Brunei Possesses Absolute powers as apart from being the Prime Minister, he also controls the defense affairs of Brunei.
