1.web server does not support EJB(Enterprise Java Beans).Where as Application server provide this facility.

2.Web server supports database connection pooling, where as Application server doesn't.

3.web server doesn't allow the users to view business logic where as Application server allows user to view the business logic.

4.Finally, Application server is superset of webserver
