hii, i am doing a project online shopping in JSP-SERVLET.I wanted to know that i need 2 use images which will be retrieved through oracle 10g.
1) what is the best strategy for storing and retrieving images in oracle?? i heard directly storing images in oracle through blob degrades the performance.
2) Should I keep the database connection as long as the project runs or should I open connections only when I am required to retrieve data?? Actually, i need to access database a lot.
Please help me as soon as possible. I am totally clueless regarding these two doubts.Thanks in advance.

Hi Friend,
1) Use blob to insert and retrieve image from database.
2) Keep the database connection open as long as the project runs but close the statement after the execution of each query.

try to open a connection and use the same through out your servlet life.even does not need to close stmt.
and next is you can't keep the images in side your database
just you put your image name and path inside the database and retrieve it while displaying.
