Well you are integrating bedework 3.4 to liferay 4.3.

liferay 4.3 is the portal platform.
which uses Servlets , jst168 portlets , struts , hibernate,spring

bedework calendar uses struts as the web ,hibernate as ORM and xslt based view.

You need to learn atleast xslt and portlets to integrate .
you can create a war file which can be deployed on liferay tomcat using the guild line present here

all you need to do is RTFM(google for desc).
and changing the poperties in quickstart sources.
