
The Airport Valet Parking Company (AVP) is a company which provides a convenient medium cost parking solution to users of a local airport. Key to their business strategy is their management of information about their staff, customers and resources using a computer based information system.
Their business model works as follows;
Customers use an online service to book the date and time for the collection of their car at the airport and also for its delivery on their return. The total charge for parking is calculated by the system and an invoice sent to the customers address. Once collected car is kept in an numbered parking bay at the storage location not far from the airport. The car key is given a serial number is stored securely. Each day a work schedule in is produced by the system detailing the collections and deliveries required that day. Administration staff, allocate these tasks to different drivers, who work for AVP. Drivers retrieve the appropriate key and deliver the car to the customer. Information about problems and delays are reported back to the admin staff. For an extra fee AVP offers a car washing and cleaning service, this is charged separately as it is provided by a separate company. Administrative staff should be able to report on the number of cars currently in storage if necessary.
