im working on jboss 4.0.5
and had the same problem while trying to deploy TravelAgent sample aplication.
i removed the port declaration and it wooked.

i copy my jndi.properties file:

java.naming.factory.initial=org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory
java.naming.factory.url.pkgs=org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces
java.naming.provider.url=localhost
