In this tutorial we will learn how to convert a long type value to char type value.

Description:

This program will take a long type value from console and provide the conversion to char type. The line long mylong = Long.parseLong(buffreader.readLine()); reads the long type value from console. The line char mychar = (char)(mylong); converts the mylong long type value to mychar char type value.

Code:

import java.io.*;

class longtochar {
public static void main(String[] args) {
try {
// Reads the value from console
BufferedReader buffreader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
System.out.println("---Data Conversion from long type to char type---");
System.out.println("Enter long type value: ");
// Read long type data
long mylong = Long.parseLong(buffreader.readLine());
// Convert long type data to char type
char mychar = (char)(mylong);
System.out.println("Converted value from long type to char type is : " + mychar);
