SCJP EXAM DETAILS AND ITS OBJECTIVES

Sun Microsystem offers SCJP certification exams in two versions SCJP 5 CX-310-055 and SCJP 6 CX-310-065 certification exams in which SCJP 6 CX-310-065 certification examination is the latest version. For qualifying SCJP 5 CX-310-055, the candidate will have to secure 59% marks (at least 43 out of 72 questions must be correct in 175 minutes) while for passing the latest version, the candidates will have to grab 65% marks (minimum 47 out of 72 questions must be correct in 210 minutes). The pattern of the question is multiple choice and drag & drop in both version.

Topic 1: Declarations, Initialization and Scoping

Topic 2: Flow Control
In this tutorial you will learn about if, switch statement, all forms of loops and iterators, use of assertion, exception handling.
 
Topic 3: API Contents
In this tutorial you will learn about the primitive wrapper classes, autoboxing and unboxing, String handling, file systems, packages like java.io and java.util its classes and methods.
 
Topic 4: Concurrency
In this tutorial you will learn about how to define, instantiate , and start new threads, use of object locking and how to protect static or instance variables from concurrent access problems and lastly thread life cycle.
 
Topic 5: Object Oriented Concepts
In this tutorial you will learn about how to implements encapsulation, use of polymorphism, and implementation of "is-a" and/or "has-a" relationships.
 
Topic 6: Collections Framework
In this tutorial you will learn about Collections API, in particular, the Set, List, and Map interfaces and implementation classes.
 
Topic 7: Fundamentals
In this tutorial you will learn about the uses appropriate access modifiers, package declarations, and import statements, deployement, setting of classpath, and use of different operators.
