Assam (currently called Asom) is a beautiful state among one of the seven sisters of northeast and a major tourist place of north-east India. Famed as a tea state due to biggest tea producing state, Asom is the most easily accessible state of northeast and is called the gateway of the northern frontier India. Assam has a rich cultural since its known origin when it was called 'Ahom'. The whole Assam can be divided into two categories: Lower Assam and Upper Assam. The lower Assam is a land of plain area while upper Assam is mountainous, which falls in the foothills of great Himalayas.
