Tutorial: ASP.NET .NET No ActiveX Server Registration Needed with ASP.NET Tutorial

Need to create a wrapper for ActiveX and use it in ASP.NET? The advantage is these wrappers don't require registration of ActiveX on server. Just copy it, allowing for easy deployment on remote servers. Even run ActiveX on shared hosting.

No ActiveX Server Registration Needed with ASP.NET

One of the main benefit of .NET against ActiveX technology is easy deployment of the applications. It is probably familiar to you that in classic ASP to use ActiveX component you should register in on server first. In fact when you are on shared hosting it is often impossible. It also makes more difficult to distribute your applications. In .NET you just copy your dll file and after that you the only thing you must do is to specify path to it. When working in ASP.NET you can just copy /bin folder containing the dll and it becomes available via <%@ Import Namespace=" ... "%> directive.

This sample demonstrates how to migrate from classic ASP code which generates video via Aurigma AVI Processor ActiveX component into ASP.NET and run this component on server without registration.
