Vector is a new type of graphic compression for the World Wide Web. Take a look at the images below to get an idea of why Vector is so powerful.
This dot was drawn in Photoshop. At 100% it still looks crisp and perfectly round.
Once this same dot is blown up to 700% (or x7) the image loses its crispness, and looks jagged. That's because Photoshop tells the computer that you need a certain amount of pixels to create an image.
