Tutorial: Sun\'s Channel Program to Drive Sales of AMD Opteron Processor-Based Systems

The new SOLAR Edge Elite program is designed to drive sales of AMD Opteron processor-based systems into Sun\'s largest customers, delivered by Sun\'s expert Solaris OS partners.

Tutorial Details:

\"Customers have made it clear that they are investing in AMD Opteron processor-based systems to enable critical business processes,\" said Greg Stroud, vice president, iForce Partner Sales at Sun Microsystems. \"The SOLAR Edge Elite program provides US channel partners with the tools, education and incentives needed to help Sun continue growing its AMD Opteron processor-based systems business and build on the momentum it achieved with its iForce partners last year across the entire Sun product family.\"

The program is specifically designed to meet customer needs as expansion in the 32/64-bit server market accelerates. According to a recent independent survey conducted by Momentum Research Group, 81 percent of U.S. enterprises intend to invest in servers based on 32/64-bit hybrid processors for industry standard computing, such as the AMD Opteron processor in 2005.

U.S. Channel Partners participating in the SOLAR Edge program will offer their customers a complete and flexible solution set containing a wide variety of platforms. Partner benefits include free demo systems and training.

\"SOLAR Edge Elite offers a strong incentive for our teams to focus on expanding our AMD Opteron processor-based systems sales in the face of customer demand for 32/64-bit servers offering a solid combination of performance, flexibility and cost-consciousness,\" said Tom Gallaway, president of Technologent, a Strategic Sun iForce Partner. \"Sun continues to provide partners with programs and solutions that help enable them to remain competitive and profitable.\"
