Modeling Complex Code in SunONE Studio with Embarcadero's Integrated Modeling Developement Environment, Describe.
Tutorial Details:
With UML 2.0, the Object Management Group (OMG) has further extended the UML specification, enabling developers to provide more clarity in their applications' functionality for modeling complex code transactions. One area in particular, the Sequence Diagram, has been notably extended based upon the feedback of its user base. Sequence diagrams in the UML 2.0 now provide the ability to model 'combined fragments' within sequence diagrams. This extension to the popular UML diagram type will enable Sun[tm] ONE Studio users to express logical components – such as alternatives, options, exceptions, parallel merges, loops, negations, critical regions, and assertions – directly in their sequence diagrams. Furthermore, the extended sequence diagramming capabilities of UML 2.0 provide users the freedom to nest sequence diagrams, and to embellish their source code with more detailed modeling capabilities.
Installation
The Describe[tm] installation process begins by locating any existing installations of Sun ONE Studio 4, Community Edition or Enterprise Edition for Java, and then automatically installs Describe in every installation of of this type that is found. Describe requires that Sun ONE Studio be run in MDI window mode. For a cleaner startup set all installations of Sun ONE Studio 4 to MDI mode before installing Describe – although this can also be done afterwards. To change the IDE's window mode: choose Tools > Setup Wizard from the main menu, then choose "Full Screen Mode (MDI)" on the first frame of the wizard.
