JSynoptic
JSynoptic renders information graphically. It can be used as a simple graph plotter, or as a complex run-time monitoring environment. The user sets up shapes (like plots) on graphical pages, and uses data sources (ex: ASCII file) to render info
Tutorial Details:
There is also an extensive User Manual, that will guide you through your first steps using JSynoptic. See our Documentation section.
JSynoptic was initially developed as an internal product for Astrium to analyze satellite simulation outputs. The main author left the original company but continues to work on the product. JSynoptic is now also used by other parties, and released to the public under the LGPL license.
If it hadn\'t gone open-source and with the main author leaving, the project would probably be stalled by now. By sharing it, everyone can benefit from the product, and hopefully make it live in the common interest of all.
The product is stable for plotting static graphs from data archives, as that was validated in an industrial context. It is currently undergoing big changes and many new features are being added.
You\'re very welcome to give it a try, and join the project!
News
24 May 04: Version 0.9 released.
In version 0.9 bugs were fixed, especially a memory leak, and performances are increased. A new installer was created, bundling in the Java Run-Time Environment if necessary. A few goodies were added : A new icon, a default Look & Feel, Drag & drop. The installer packages the sources and the mathematical parser. Last but not least, a 3D plugin is on the way (though not enabled by default in this version).
08 Mar 04: Version 0.8 released.
Version 0.8 is mainly a maintenance and bugfix release. New features include a per-user plugin setup, a developper manual, and improved text shapes. Also, the LGPL mathematical expression parser is available as an independant jar file in the source package.
01 Mar 04: Presentation slides available.
The presentation announced last month is now over. The slides and the examples are available online.
03 Feb 04: v07 released: Mathematical expressions, bug fixes.
With version 0.7, it is now possible to combine data sources dynamically using mathematical expressions. The resulting data sources are processed as usual.
The GUI was updated, and a few bugs were fixed
