A set of Eclipse plug-ins that integrate the Cell BE tool chain and enable rapid building of Cell BE applications.
Tutorial Details:
Developers starting with Cell Broadband Engine (Cell BE) development are faced with the tasks of downloading the Cell BE SDK; obtaining compilers, debuggers, simulators, and other development tools; and often creating their own platforms for developing, simulating, and deploying Cell BE applications.
IBM Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for Cell BE SDK, which is built upon the Eclipse and C Development Tools (CDT) platform, integrates the Cell BE GNU tool chain, compilers, IBM Full-System Simulator for the Cell BE, and other development components in order to provide a comprehensive, user-friendly development platform that simplifies Cell BE development. Key features include the following:
* a C/C++ editor that supports syntax highlighting; a customizable template; and an outline window view for procedures, variables, declarations, and functions that appear in source code
* a rich visual interface for PPE (Power Processing Element) and SPE (Synergistic Processing Element) GDB (GNU debugger)
seamless integration of simulator into Eclipse
automatic builder, performance tools, and several other enhancements.
After the successful installation of Cell BE SDK 1.1, Eclipse 3.2, CDT 3.1.2, and IDE for Cell BE SDK, developers can use this environment to easily create a Cell BE-specific project in the integrated Eclipse environment.
