Tutorial: MS FrontPage Basics Basic FrontPage tutorial Tutorial

A basic FrontPage tutorial that covers a lot. I will be updating it more soon. Covers Tables, color changing, hyperlinks, and more.

Tutorial Details:

Introduction FrontPage

A few notes about this tutorial: unless the picture is a good size, clicking on the image will bring up a larger picture. At the end of the page, there will be a few common questions with their answers.

Okay, lets start out by opening up FrontPage. (I'll assume that you have already installed FrontPage successfully.) It is also best if you have a bit of understanding of the internet and HTML, but this should be good for most users.

The first thing to do is to make a website folder. If this message pops up, click OK. (Obviously, your user name will be put in the blank space.) Mine will be C:\Documents and Settings\User_Name\My Documents\HTML. (This folder is automatically made by Windows.)

Now that we are here, lets take a look at the layout of the program and what is on our screen. The files circled are automatically created by FrontPage. (Click on the image to see a larger version)

Explanation 1: These icons at the bottom allow you to navigate through your website folder. The 'Folders' icon allows you to see all the folders and files in the folder that you are currently in. The 'Remote Web Site' button allows you to configure how to publish your website to an FTP server. The 'Reports' button gives you information about the website, how large it is, how many pictures etc.
