HTML Getting Started Learning XHTML

XHTML is a hybrid of XML and HTML. XHTML is often described as well formed HTML. XHTML documents must adhere to a strict set of standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium. The following are the main differences between XHTML and HTML.

Elements, also known as tags, must be properly closed. This means that they have to be closed in the opposite order they were open.
Documents must be Well Formed

All headers must go into the head tag and all body content must go into the body tag.

All XHTML Documents Must contain a doctype, which is a line at the very beginning of a document stating which standard of XHTML you will use. This line specifies which of the three XHTML standards you will use. The standards are described in the following.

XHTML Strict
The XHTML strict doctype indicates that you will be conforming to the highest XHTML standards. You will not be able to use any deprecated HTML tags or attributes such as the tag or the align attribute. These must be accomplished with style sheets.
