Working with Macromedia Fireworks MX pop-up menus

A pop-up menu is a menu that appears when you move the pointer over a trigger image in a browser. It contains a list of items that link to other web pages.
To see an example of a pop-up menu , open the example file, then roll your pointer over the menu buttons located at the top of the page.

Note: The above sample pop-up menu does not actually contain operable links.
In Macromedia Fireworks MX you can create a JavaScript pop-up menu, even if you know nothing about JavaScript. You can then export the pop-up menu to your Macromedia Dreamweaver MX site, and edit it at anytime. This tutorial takes you through the steps of building and editing a Fireworks MX pop-up menu.

After you learn the basics of creating and editing pop-up menus, you can create and customize your own. With the new Pop-up Menu Editor enhancements in Fireworks MX, you can create horizontal or vertical pop-up menus, and determine border characteristics, cell spacing, and cell size independently from text size. You can also add sub-menus to the menu items in your pop-up menu.

For a complete list of all the features available for creating pop-up menus, see "Creating pop-up menus" in Fireworks MX Help (Help > Using Fireworks > Creating Buttons and Pop-up Menus).
