Automatic Vehicle Tracking System
Tracking the location of vehicles at a farther distance has been made easy with advancements in science and technology. Automatic vehicle tracking system is the advent of this technology and solves the given purpose. A vehicle tracking system is a unique system based on advanced technology that is used to track vehicles under authorization. It is a system based on electronics that uses highly sophisticated technology to ensure that the results are not only accurate, but also proper authorised. The automatic vehicle tracking system runs by GPS technology. This technology has further many components.
The constituents of the GPS system are comprised of hardware and software, which assist in locating the vehicle online or offline. The automatic vehicle tracking system primarily consists of following parts:
A device attached to a vehicle or a fleet of vehicles Unit is one of the most primary parts. The hardware unit of the vehicle monitoring system is installed in the vehicle. A GPS/GSM modem performs the required linkages and functions for the connection and installation. The tracking software helps in sending out the signals in assistance with satellite or radio to the modem device. The controller modem converts the data and sends the vehicle location data to the server.
Base stations have the tracking software and geographic map that is necessary to locate the vehicle with the automated system up and running in it. The data is received and further forwarded using a wireless network base stations have the maps of all the locations and they are equipped with an in-built Web-server.
Storage database and software is extremely important so that we keep a history of our tracking. Database and software are the two most intrinsic constituents. The location information and the coordinates of every point visited are stored in a database. The figures are displayed on the screen using digital maps. To implement security measures, the users can only connect to the web server with the respective vehicle ID assigned to them. This vehicle ID is stored in the database and only then the party can view the location of vehicle in question.
GPS tracking device is installed into the vehicle to store and send the location information of the vehicle to the central server at frequent intervals. Not only the location of the vehicle, but it also gives data like fuel cost, engine heat, emergency button status, height, engine RPM, reverse geo-coding, GSM area code/cell code decoded, door open/close, pressure, cut off fuel, ignition triggers, turn on headlight, computed odometer, turn on taillight, battery status, number of GPS satellites in view, glass open/close, fuel amount, and a heap of other information. Efficiency of these devices actually determines the final efficiency of the complete tracking system.
GPS tracking server: The GPS tracking server has following functions. It receives data from the GPS tracking unit and stores it, while ensuring the security of the data. As soon as the user asks for some information, it serves the required information.
User interface is needed for accessing the information. The thing that has to be determined is the 'Who and How' behind it. User Interface performs the required functions. The vehicle data is also viewed by the user interface.
Vehicle tracking device collects data in the process from the field and deliver it to the base of operation.
