In this section, you will learn the detail description about how to install a Fedora Core 6 desktop/server that fulfill all the services required by ISPs and hosters such as Apache web server, MySQL server, FTP server, DNS server, Firewall, Quota etc. This tutorial is written for x86 including Pentium-IV processor of 32-bit version of  computer for installing Fedora Core 6 server software. This tutorial can also be applied on 64-bit version processor by doing some modification.

Following Software have been used to install Fedora Core 6 Desktop/ Server Operating System in this tutorial.
* Apache 2.2.3 (Web Server)
* MySQL 5.0.22 (Database Server)
* FTP Server (Proftpd)
* BIND 9 (DNS Server).
* Webalizer (for Website Statistics)

With the help of these software, Fedora Core 6 desktop/server can be installed successfully. There are also many another ways for installing Fedora Core 6 besides this tutorial direction. For installing it you must have a reliable computer system with minimum required configuration. It will be appropriate to use the system of  recommended configuration in stead of  minimum requirement, so that it can run quickly. For free web hosting, you can install ISPConfig control panel through ISPConfig (i.e., ISPConfig runs on it out of the box).

Requirement
For loading this operating system, you need to download the 5CD's or DVD of  Fedora Core 6 iso-image from one of the various distribution mirrors by using  internet connection or you must have all the set of CDs purchased from the authorized Linux distribution. The downloading process has been earlier mentioned in the previous section

Preliminary Note.
For installing this server, it requires a hostname, a root password. We've used noor.roseindia.net as a hostname in this tutorial. These settings varies according to the system configuration and networking. So you need to change them according to asking requirement.

Aborting the installation.
Before beginning the process of installing Fedora Core 6, we would like to tell you about how to abort the installation process at any time if you do not want to install it on your window based operating system along with Linux. We are writing the process of installing Fedora Core 6 server/desktop based operating system for the fresh computer. So for aborting either press Ctrl-Alt-Del or power off the computer with the power switch. Fedora makes no changes to your computer until package installation begins. It is better to install it on the fresh computer.

Booting from CD or DVD.
Switch on the computer.
Insert the first disc into the CD or DVD drive.
A boot screen appears, with a boot: prompt at the bottom

Three options appear there.

If you hit 'Enter', the installation runs in default mode, which is a graphical interface mode.

If you want the installation in Text mode type : Linux text then press. 'Enter' key.

For getting more information press functional keys and follows the instruction given there.

We pressed 'Enter'.
