Linux Distribution?
Linux Distribution is a version of Linux Kernel and other associated software, in the installable format. So, that it can be installed on the targeted hardware. There are around 300 Linux distribution projects releasing the distribution based on latest Linux Kernel.

Some Linux Distributions are mainly for the running the servers and others are for desktop and embedded systems. These days Live Linux Distributions are also available. Live Linux can be booted directly from the cd.
