The Development Release of SUSE Linux 10.1

The first beta of SUSE Linux 10.1 has been released and now its available for download.

SUSE Linux 10.1 offers a comprehensive selection of open source software for a variety to task from, email, Internet, development, productivity, Security, server, graphics and more. Among many updates and enhancements here the most important ones:

* The distribution comes with 5 CDs.
  - Only CD1 for a minimal text installation in English
  - CDs 1-3 for a default KDE or GNOME installation in German or English
  - All CDs for other selections

* The partitioner proposes to put /home on a separate partition.

* The SUSE Linux 10.1 core system comes with CVS versions of glibc
  2.4 and GCC 4.1, X.org 6.9, KDE 3.5, GNOME 2.12.2, Linux 2.6.15.

* SUSE Linux 10.1 Beta1 comes with the Intrusion Prevention framework  AppArmor 2.0.

* The latest versions from the Mozilla project: Firefox 1.5 and  SeaMonkey 1.0 pre-release.

* PPC only: The jsm serial driver is gone, its maintainers failed to fix it. There is thus no way to boot on (old or new) PPC systems
  with 8250 serial ports.
