The Frugalware Developer Team is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Frugalware 0.4rc1. A list of changes since 0.4pre2: created a package synchronization client and daemon (syncpkg and syncpkgd) to update packages faster; implemented 'fwcpan', a new tool to install any CPAN module; split OpenOffice.org, now all language packs and dictionaries can be installed and removed separately; more than 80 new packages: Xgl (with a step by step howto), Beagle....
The Frugalware Developer Team is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Frugalware 0.4rc1-i686, the first release candidate of 0.4-i686.
A short and incomplete list of changes since 0.4pre2-i686:
1. New features:
o Created a package synchronization client and daemon (syncpkg and
syncpkgd) to update packages faster on arches other than i686 (x86_64 and
later ppc).
o Implemented fwcpan, a new tool to install any cpan module, just like it would when you install it with the
pacman.
o Splitted OpenOffice, now all language packs and dictionaries can be installed/removed separately.
o More than 80 new packages: Xgl (with a step by step howto), beagle,
fvwm-crystal, cdcat, klamav, kcheckgmail, xvidcap, synaptics, rt2500,
rdiff-backup and much more!
2. Updates: As usual, Frugalware comes with the latest version of upstream stable releases, including:
o Linux kernel 2.6.15.4
o Perl 5.8.8
o Firefox 1.5.0.1
o Thunderbird 1.5
o KDE 3.5.1
o GNOME 2.12.3
