About Berry
If you have network devices, auto-configure DHCP and you can use Internet. And you can enjoy OpenOffice, MS Office compatible office suite, or use GIMP by free.
Berry Linux can be used as a Linux demo, educational CD, rescue system. It is not necessary to install anything on a hard disk. But it's able to install on hard disk. (Needs 1.7GB free space. Using Berry Linux Installer)
Berry Linux is based on Red Hat Fedora Core 3, Knoppix 3.8.

Common Features:
Support for Kernel-2.6. ALSA, ACPI, selinux.
Overlay Filesystem Support.
Berry Linux is not necessary to install. (Root partition is in the ramdisc using initrd, all commands are operated by being transfered from CD-ROM)
Install without parting patitions on Windows to use install.bat. (Using cloop/loopback device)
It's possible to install Berry Linux on hard disk. (Use Berry Linux Installer or Copy under /BERRY/, and set up LILO)
Berry Linux can boot from USB-HDD/memory.
Berry Linux uses WHIZ, a very sharp Kana-Kanji conversion system. (WHIZ Project)
Automatically recognizes USB storage, and show icons.
Berry Linux uses free Japanese True Type Fonts.
Berry Linux uses bootsplash when booting.
Berry Linux uses DHCP to connect the Network. (If you'd like to use PPPoE, you should setting up it on the Terminal)

Berry Linux's Features:
You can listen to mp3 using XMMS, and play DVD/DivX using MPlayer and XINE.
You can edit files of Microsoft Word, Excel by OpenOffice(TM).
Berry Linux Mini's Features:
Minimum Linux enviroment is available by using Berry Linux Mini.
Its file size is very small. (148.0MB)
It's light. Because of the Window Manager is Fluxbox.
You can enjoy comfortable Linux enviroment.

Kernel panic on boot after realtek RTL-8139 ethernet intialization. (Kernel Bugs)
Using cloop with kernel-2.4.22-pre7 to 2.4.23-pre2 sometimes stoppes in boot. (pre5 is OK)
Sometimes gcc 3.3 is not good ! (Berry Linux 0.19 only)
krb5.h isn't in krb5-devel-1.2.8-4. (Berry Linux 0.19, 0.20 only)

2007-07-11 Berry Linux 0.82 is available
This is the first Berry release based on the new Fedora 7, with corresponding package updates. The distribution uses kernel 2.6.21.6 with SMP, ndev/udev and bootsplash patches, while glibc has been updated to version 2.6, GCC to version 4.1.2 and Busybox to version 1.5.1. The desktop is powered by X.Org 7.2 with optional Beryl 3D desktop features and KDE 3.5.7. Other notable package upgrade include K3b 1.0.1, Digikam 0.9.1, OpenOffice.org 2.2.1, Flash Player 9.0.31, ATI driver 8.33.6, Samba 3.0.25, WINE 0.9.39, NDISwrapper 1.47 and MadWiFi 0.9.3.1.
2007-06-18 Berry Linux 0.81 has been released
The new version is based on Fedora 6 with a number of updated applications. It boots into Linux kernel 2.6.20 with the FUSE overlay file system version 2.6.5 and support for SSHFS and NTFS-3G. The live CD also includes NVIDIA 1.0-9639 and ATI 8.37.6 proprietary kernel drivers and Kudzu, the hardware detection utility, version 1.2.71. Among software applications, Berry's Rasp-UI window manager has been updated to version 0.05, Audacious to version 1.3.2, GIMP to version 2.2.15, and xine-lib to version 1.1.7. Flash Player 9.0.31 and the latest WINE 0.9.36 are also included.
