Linux Distribution: Wolvix
Url: http://wolvix.org/
A Release Candidate for Wolvix Media Edition 1.0.4 is now out. This will hopefully be the first and only release candidate before the final release.
Linux Release Details:
Wolvix 1.1.0 has been released
I'm pleased to announce the final release of Wolvix Cub and Wolvix Hunter version 1.1.0. This release marks a turning point in the Wolvix development as it's not longer a SLAX remaster, but now based on the stable Slackware releases and the Linux-Live scripts. New features in Wolvix 1.1.0 are: LZMA compressed modules, SMP support, NTFS write support, auto mounting through HAL, Xfce 4.4.1, and as always a full range of applications for office, graphics, multimedia and development use. Though this release is based on Slackware 11.0 it comes with the 2.6.21.5 kernel and many other package upgrades.
About Wolvix 1.1.0

This release marks a turning point in the Wolvix development as it's not longer a Slax remaster, but now based on the stable Slackware releases and the Linux-Live scripts. New features in Wolvix 1.1.0 are, LZMA compressed modules, SMP support, NTFS write support, auto mounting through HAL, Xfce 4.4.1, and as always a full range of applications for office, graphics, multimedia and development use.

Though this releases is based on Slackware 11.0 it comes with the 2.6.21.5 kernel and many other package upgrades, our new package repository also contains many additional programs not featured on the ISO. Also worth mentioning is that Wolvix 1.1.0 is now supported by DarkVision's SlackBot. I haven't prepared any additional modules yet, but with the repo in place you should be able to create your own without too much trouble. Instead of providing the traditional modules I'll rather fill the repository with packages and create 'meta modules' (simple shell scripts) which will download packages and create a module automatically. More details about this will be posted later, as I've just started working on the first script.

New Features
1. Added an updated fonts cache to the xorg module.
2. Removed Ekiga from Hunter as it has a dependency to Evolution.
3. Moved Cyrus-sasl from Hunter to Cub. Required by Claws Mail.
4. Moved Kino from Cub to Hunter due to increased size of the Xorg module.
5. Made the Fluxbox module more independant from the Xfce module
6. Replaced the extra wallpapers with new using the new logo
7. Added synaptics and changed the mouse protocol from 'imps' to 'any'.
(This should make it easier to set up touchpads right.)

Package Upgrades

1. Flashplayer 9.0.48.0
2. Mozilla-Firefox 2.0.0.6
3. Mozilla-Thunderbird 2.0.0.6
4. Kino 1.1.0
5. Pidgin 2.1.0
6. gPodder 0.9.4
7. medit 0.8.9
