This is the latest in our desktop operating system releases, and features almost 3000 open source and free software packages drawn from the Fedora Project and from many other sources, combined with locally developed custom software and pre-configurations. |

BU Linux 4.6 (Stormy) runs on almost all typical desktop computer systems, and is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit editions to take advantage of the latest processors from AMD and Intel. BU Linux also will work on many laptops, although the wide variation in laptop hardware sometimes leads to
incompatibilities.
As the minor increase in version numbers indicates, this release is not a huge jump from the previous desktop edition, BU Linux 4.5 (Velouria). However, Stormy is built from more than twice as many individual software packages as the previous release, and most of the included programs have been refreshed to newer versions.
For many users, the inclusion of OpenOffice.org 2.0 presents a compelling reason to upgrade immediately. Stormy also includes the latest versions of the popular Firefox web browser and Thunderbird mail client.
