About the 64 Studio 0.9.0
64 Studio is developing a collection of native software for digital content creation on x86_64 hardware (that's AMD's 64-bit CPUs and Intel's EM64T chips). It's based on the pure 64 port of Debian GNU/Linux, but with a specialised package selection and lots of other customisations.
Like to see the work in progress? You can now download an iso image for version 0.9.0 beta. This will install Debian with X.org, the Gnome 2.14 desktop, Linux kernel 2.6.17 with realtime preemption patches and a selection of creative applications. To upgrade from 0.9.0 to the latest release, please see the UpgradeScript page. Gnome, Ardour, Hydrogen, Jamin and Qjackctl are running on 64 Studio.
Some More Detail
This is the first beta release of the 64 Studio distribution.
The 709MB .iso image can be burned to DVD-R, or alternatively to CD-R using overburn.
It will install a custom Debian system specialised for multimedia content creation.

Known bugs in this release:
1. The snd_seq module is not loaded automatically
(this causes errors with MIDI applications until the module is loaded manually)
2. Gnome-cups-add printer applet does not work properly
3. After install, Synaptic will produce an error message until apt-get update is run.
