Absolute Linux is a light-weight modification of Slackware Linux. It includes several utilities that make configuration and maintenance easier and it has many common desktop and Internet applications installed and configured with tight integration of menu
Linux Release Details:
Absolute Linux 12.1.05 has been released
Big change is with the installer, "Autoinstall" option that takes care of drive partitioning along with the Lilo setup, making install much easier for new-comers to Linux and/or text-based installation. The usual options for installation are also still available. Documentation (HTML instructions for the install) have been updated both online in the ZIP that contains the iso.
Changes


  • Redesigned installer to include an "autoinstall" option which will auto-partition drive and take care of lilo installation. The lilo package in /absolute installer has also been updated to accommodate (/var/log/setup/setup.liloconfig edited.)


  • Corrected internal "name" of links2.desktop file


  • absgamma.py (utility to adjust gamma of monitor)updated so that when trying to be run when using the vesa driver user will be told the utility will not work and gracefully close.


  • Java updated to jre-6u7


  • gnome-icon-theme added for compatability with some apps, avoids warnings and errors if a new app is added that uses the icons yet does does not do proper error trapping.


  • Svgpage moved to CD2 (does artsy conversions of SVG to PNGs.)
